POSTING OF FLAGS ALONG HIGHWAY 50

The posting of 70+ American Flags along Highway 50 has been a Post 119 community service for many years.

The dates for the flag display are set with the Placerville Parks and Recreation Department Calendar annually in January.

The five dates during 2020 which the flags will be displayed:

Memorial Day Monday - May 25th, 2020

Flag Day - June 14th, 2020

4th of July, 2020

Patriots Day - September 11th, 2020

Veterans Day - November 11th, 2020

This effort is only possible when members of the Legion family show up to put the flags up and take them down. We must have your participation in order that this service to the community continues.

Volunteers need to come to the flag locker at the Placerville Veterans Memorial Building at 0645. Those with pickup trucks should bring them. The flags are brought out of the locker and are made ready for transport in vehicles. We use all of the christmas tree stands. These begin at the Placerville sign at Canal street and end just before the Courthouse. At the first tree stand at Canal Street we place a POW-MIA banner. After placing flags we go as a group to breakfast. At 4pm the flags are taken down and returned to the flag locker. If it is raining, we do not put flags out.
